Montecristo OISA 1937 is the result of a long and remarkable journey.

Symbolically represented by a sailing ship setting out against the backdrop of a world map, this journey recalls the voyages of the great and daring Italian explorers of the 15th century, as well as those of Italian watchmakers since the time of Galileo Galilei.

It is an all-Italian story of passion and courage, born from the meeting between LOCMAN, the historic watchmaking maison from the Island of Elba, and OISA 1937, another excellence of Made in Italy.

It is within the LOCMAN Montecristo model that the first OISA 1937 hand-wound mechanical movement comes to life. Developed over years of research and introduced by OISA 1937 in partnership with LOCMAN, it takes on a new challenge: restoring Italian Made in Italy mechanical watchmaking to its rightful place.

At its heart, the hand-wound OISA 29-50 Cinque Ponti calibre combines technical precision with artisanal craftsmanship. The bridges, finished with Côtes de Genève, and the mainplate, decorated with perlage, are crafted by hand, while the variable-inertia balance with regulating weights reflects the movement’s traditional construction. With 19 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve, it embodies an authentic vision of Italian mechanical watchmaking.

A case designed to stand out

The 42 mm case, available in AISI 316L stainless steel with a biocompatible titanium caseback or in 18-carat gold, retains the distinctive design codes of the Montecristo collection. Side apertures and three-bar lugs create a dynamic, instantly recognisable profile. The exhibition caseback reveals the movement, while the screw-down crown ensures water resistance to 100 metres.
