CELEBRITY SHOW ON THE ISOLA D'ELBA FOR THE LOCMAN TROPHY AWARD:

The sailing challenge, which started on May 10th in the crystal-clear waters of Portoferraio, celebrated the triumph of the Swedish skipper Magnus Holmberg, who beat the Australian James Spithill 3-2 in a breathtaking final race. The Swedish team was awarded the Locman Trophy, a valuable sculpture created especially for the competition by the famous Tuscan sculptor Pietro Cascella, plus an extra prize of 77,500 euro and the bonus points of the Swedish Match Tour, the prestigious international circuit that gathers the 10 top world events, which will award another 200,000 dollars by the end of the season.

The Grand Gala, held in the splendid Medici complex of Linguella, right in front of the Portoferraio bay, hosted more than 500 special guests. Amongst the many Vips who love Elba-made watches were the actresses Anna Falchi, the patroness of the LOCMAN Trophy, and Barbara d'Urso, fresh from the success of TV reality-show Big Brother, flanked by the tv presenter Carlo Conti and the singer Rita Forte. The most glamorous names, though, were not only from the show business. Besides the reporters from all major newspapers and news magazines in the world, such as "Die Welt" and "Le Figaro", "Gala" and "Vogue", outstanding celebrities from the world of politics and finance also took part in the event, namely the minister of the Environment Altero Matteoli, the president of Regione Toscana Claudio Martini, the president of Monte dei Paschi di Siena Pierluigi Fabrizi, the vice-president of Banca Toscana Aldighiero Fini, and Giancarlo Pacini, the president of the Associazione Albergatori dell'Isola d'Elba.

For LOCMAN, a brand that stands out in the world of Italian watchmaking, the competition was a perfect opportunity to assert its "Elba roots": the company, although backed up by an international structure with branches in New York, Paris and Tokyo, has in fact always insisted in keeping its headquarters at Marina di Campo. The offices facing the beautiful bay of Campo provide indeed the cradle of the LOCMAN watch production, the place where LOCMAN models are so beautifully designed to have become real cult accessories all over the world. Trendy, exclusive, made with hi-tech materials such as titanium and carbon fiber, they are more and more often worn by Vips and celebrities, and frequently appear on the glossy pages of the most glamorous international magazines.

In keeping with the style of the company, the LOCMAN Trophy was a "strong" way to assert its unbreakable links with the Isola d'Elba, an inland where natural elements can express all their might: so the wind, the sea, and the sun challenged man in a race against time played according to the noble rules of sailing. Every moment is precious in the LOCMAN world, whether it's to win a regatta or to strike the passing of time of a creative life, because on a small island of the Thyrrhenian sea people know exactly the value of time.
