Locman and Samsonite together in the watch business

Samsonite S.p.A. and Locman S.p.A have made a deal for the launch of a new collection of watches. The Isola d’Elba-based Tuscan company of watchmakers will take care of the styling and production, whereas the American leading brand in the leather-goods industry will handle distribution and communication. The new watch collection will bear the label “Samsonite designed by Locman Italy”.

Distribution will start in the Italian market first. The new collection of watches will initially be on sale in 200 special shops, plus 300 amongst the Italian best leather-goods stores and, of course, single-brand stores. Later, they will be launched in the US market and in the rest of Europe.

Samsonite watches, with shiny steel case and Gmt movement, make their début in two sizes, the man’s and the woman’s version, and three different color combinations of face and strap. The large face version, with a smooth leather strap, comes in black and avion blue or white and dark brown. The small face version, with a caneté gros grain strap, comes in total black or total Bordeaux as an alternative to the white-red combination. The shape is rectangular with rounded edges and an Art deco motif on the side of the case. Amongst other functions, a 24-hour hand and a calendar.
