Great festival on the Island of Elba from May 2 to 10, on the occasion of the third edition of the "Toscana Elba Cup - Locman Trophy".Inside the marvellous Porto Azzurro bay, not far from the shore, the leading teams involved in the America's Cup will compete in the contest. The program of collateral events is also attracting - parties will take place each evening and the last round, on Sunday, the 9th of May, will be the LOCMAN Gala on the Hermitage terrace. For LOCMAN, a brand that stands out in the world of Italian watchmaking, the competition was a perfect opportunity to assert its “Elba roots”: the company, although backed up by an international structure with branches in New York, Paris and Tokyo, has in fact always insisted in keeping its headquarters at Marina di Campo. The offices facing the beautiful bay of Campo provide indeed the cradle of the LOCMAN watch production, the place where LOCMAN models are so beautifully designed to have become real cult accessories all over the world. Trendy, exclusive, made with hi-tech materials such as titanium and carbon fiber, they are more and more often worn by Vips and celebrities, and frequently appear on the glossy pages of the most glamorous international magazines. In keeping with the style of the company, the LOCMAN Trophy was a “strong” way to assert its unbreakable links with the Isola d’Elba, an island where natural elements can express all their might: so the wind, the sea, and the sun challenged man in a race against time played according to the noble rules of sailing. Every moment is precious in the LOCMAN world, whether it’s to win a regatta or to strike the passing of time of a creative life, because on a small island of the Thyrrhenian sea people know exactly the value of time. This year’s Toscana Elba Cup boasts a number of outstanding skippers. Russell Coutts, current holder and three-time winner of the America’s Cup, sailing for Alinghi Team; Gavin Brady (former Luna Rossa team) now at the helm for Oracle BMW Racing, Challenge of Record for the next edition of the America’s Cup with John Kostecki (current around-the-world winner) at his side; Karol Jablonski, Polish, no. 1 ranked skipper on the ISAF Match Race Rankings List and skipper for the new Italian team participating in the next America’s Cup Toscana Challenge; the Riviera di Rimini team with Paolo Cian, Italian, who participated with Mascalzone Latino in the 2002-2003 America’s Cup and placed third in last year’s edition of the Elba Cup - Trofeo Locman; Peter Gilmour, Australian, skipper of OneWorld with five years of America’s Cup competition under his belt, competing with Pizza-La Sailing Team; Bertrand Pacé, French, skipper of the new Team France of the America’s Cup, Match Race winner in 1994, who participated in the last America’s Cup with Team New Zealand; Ed Baird, American, skipper for Team Musto, current Match Race title holder and winner of the first edition of the Elba Cup – Trofeo Locman and skipper of Young America in the XXX America’s Cup; Magnus Holmberg, Swedish, skipper for Victory Challenge, winner of last year’s Elba Cup – Trofeo Locman, with the team SeaLife Rangers; Jesper Radich, Danish, current title holder of the Swedish Match Tour e 2° place in the Match Race ISAF, racing for Team Denmark, Philippe Presti for the team Le Défi.
